Before you book it is good to know who we are.

Of course, you can always call or send us an email.

Sol (Soledade) was born in Aljezur on the west coast, and studied Interior Architecture. Sol's flair and talent for design is clearly reflected in the decoration of the houses where each detail is thought about and carefully considered. With patience and precision she decides how everything is going to look, sometimes to the despair of those doing the work, but the results are incredible!

Aside from house design, Sol is active in her own atelier (gallery/workshop) where she makes the most beautiful pieces of art using a variety of materials. Most of the tiles in the houses have been hand-painted then fired in the kiln on the farm by Sol. Always busy and very sociable, Sol also enjoys her own company. Another of Sol's many talents is her knowledge of both Portuguese and international cuisine. Even across the borders of Portugal she is well known for her excellent cooking skills. Unfortunately, not many people have been lucky enough to taste it!

Jan Willem was born in Haarlem in Holland and is of a more technical persuasion. All the technical installations in and around the houses and the farm were designed and installed by Jan Willem, including an extensive irrigation system which keeps the vegetable and flower gardens lush and productive. Besides his job on the Internet which is done from home, you can find Jan Willem in his workshop, or on the land - with or without his tractor.

Maintenance and care of the land is very important for us. We farm using only organic methods, producing olives, almonds, figs and carobs. We also have a very productive vegetable garden, and keep free-range chickens. Unfortunately time is limited, but we have become members of the Wwoof Organisation which is an international scheme for organic farmers. Volunteers from all over the world come and work on our farm in exchange for food and lodging. With the help of these mainly young people, and a gardener who comes in twice a week, we manage to stay on top of most things. Jan Willem likes to walk people around the property on arrival, and describe the running of the farm..

Wolfy and Bica are our two Portuguese Waterdogs. Inseparable, they are lovely friendly dogs whose job it is to guard the land. New arrivals can expect a noisy greeting, but after a bit of sniffing they will trot off and do their own thing! .

Sol en Jan Willem would like to welcome you soon.
